I fell in love with photography again in Ireland... After all these years, I still find professional photography equipment heavy and cumbersome, and the lighter lenses to be insufficiently sharp or quick. When traveling there is the added fear of having gear stolen or broken, and so after too much thought, I purchased an affordable, plastic, 28mm prime lens, and that was it. In total, my camera weighed far under 2lbs and the ease of taking in and out of my bag made visually exploring a new country a joy. (Special credit to Dave who took the photos of me!)
As a very Irish American family my dad talked about going to Ireland his whole life and we finally made it. I reveled in the wind, heather covered meadows, and welcoming people. I tried very hard not to tell everyone that I'm 74% of–off the boat, Boston Irish–but like every other tourist who goes to Ireland–I couldn't help it.
